By Philip K. Dick (275 pgs.)
I was informed while reading this that they are making a movie of it. If so, it's going to end up a lot like Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas. It's not that the plot is like that so much but that there is so much in the way of drugs and drug use.
The plot is a bit difficult to work out actually. Mostly, it revolves around a conspiracy which only really becomes obvious towards the end. Paranoia in a style truly worthy of PKD.

PK Dick was a User. Period. He had 5 wives and was variously addicted to minor drugs and alcohol, the latter of which eventually killed him.
I always find it interesting when authors write about subjects near and dear to their heart.
I thought I had read this a couple years back when I'd gone on a 5 book PKD binge, but guess not as it doesn't sound familiar. Maybe I should go back and fill in the gap
indeed. There's actually a really good online biography for PK Dick. http://www.philipkdick.com/aa_biography.html Which makes most of his fiction track a little better for me. It's amazing he survived as long as he did.
